It’s April already.  Crazy.

So I’ve been really lazy as far as getting y bike put back together to go on some long rides. I got new TIME pedals and I want to see how they hold up. Granted my Shimano 105 pedals were fine, my cleats were wearing away and saw a good impulse deal on these. Only thing is, they need to be tighten by a tool other then the bike wrench. :/

Anyway, my bike has been sitting flipped over all winter and I need to fix that because I haven’t even had a chance to break in the bike after it was properly tuned up.

Though my city bike has been getting all the attention, I miss a long ride.

I need to dust off my road bike and go for some long rides again.  I get a kick out of riding my other bike around town but something is mentally freeing when you go for a long ride.  There’s a mental challenge to keep going but also, it’s pretty meditative too because it’s just you and the road.  You just go for as long as you want to, especially when you’re out on the open country roads.

I’m going to try my new pedals once I figure out why they are so weird.  My Shimano 105s have worked their hearts out but I want to feel a difference under my feet.  So I’ll see how that works out and report it.

If I knew the things I know now and my little obsessions, this would have been the most awesome EE design project in college.  Instead of heat sensors, I could have used servos in another way.  The mechanics, the fun and the vandalism.  BIKES and RAINBOWS.  What more can you ask for?

I have a thing for understated, unbranded backpacks like this; I still have pangs of desire for this one, but it was Japan-only, like the one above from Fuct.

I love its blank labels, and although I wish the snaps were metal, the rest of it looks pretty practical. It costs ¥14,700, or about $180, so it’s not a budget bag, but hey. Sometimes you need to shell out a bit for something sweet like this.

Definitely need to ride Denver sometime.  Bike friendly streets, cool vibe and I like that I’ve hit up the bike shop above in my pic that they show in the vid.  I like riding around the city but I miss cranking down on my road bike also.  Waiting for the days to get longer so I can ride more.  Being on that work schedule throws off the riding schedule.  I’ll have to fix that.

More importantly, I never hesitated to take my bike out for a ride around the area.  It was a daily occurrence to take the bike out, if the weather permitted.  Friday night rides would have been on the regular now that I know some folks down to go.  Also, it  didn’t hurt that I had a lot of extra time while I was “in-between jobs.”  I made my time worthwhile and if I had a choice, I would move back around that area or around the Energy Corridor depending on what’s more convenient.  Being bike accessible is now a requirement.  Just cuz.
