Canon.

These video combine a multitude of things that I’m passionate about.  Photography, cinematography, music, choreography, visual editing and ingenuity.  The first video is the final product of a Canon commercial that I am surprised that I haven’t even seen this on television once.  The second video is just exactly what into making it and how smart and imaginative these cats truly are.

Maybe I can do a crazy project like this someday minus the budget, the staff, the equipment or the extras BUT who knows?!  Still an awesome concept.  Gots me inspired.

Flats, flats, flats!

So I finally blew out my front tire.  I clipped a corner too quickly and my front tire hit a small ditch area and I can see my tube explode.  First of all, I do not know how I was able to catch myself from eating pavement.  I was able to clip out and catch myself somehow.  I thought I would fix the flat and move on.  Took out my CO2 only to have the capsule get stick inverted inside of the the capsule gun.  It was too big for the gun and I didn’t have anything to push it out.  Then I started playing with the wheel and I saw where I collided on the tire and I can see the mesh wiring.  Dunzo.  Anyway, I hated those tires.  I’ve had plenty of flats with them.  Pinch flats, glass in the road, snakes on a plane, pants on the ground…you name it, it punctured through.I guess it was time to put on the new wheelset.  My Mavic Aksium’s (the black ones would have been sick).  Thanks for all the recommendations.  Everyone I’ve talked to either had these puppies on their bike or they told me I couldn’t go wrong with them and that my ride would thank me for doing so.  Merry Christmas to me!  I also opted for the Continental Grand Prix 4000s instead of the Gatorskins.  I saw the difference in the tread and I thought I may as well just hit it up and get it over with.  I like that they are “stickier” on the road and a better traction grid on them.  Now it’s time to put some miles on them. Cold

Layers for a 42 degree ride:Dri-fit t-shirtDri-fit pull-over zipper shirtBike shortRunning tightsWind breakerSweatpants (Not a good idea if they are baggy. Had my right pant leg hiked up over my knee.)BeanieHonestly, I think it kept me pretty warm except for my exposed fingers out of my half-jacket gloves and my face. The first ten minutes are brutal especially riding against the wind. Again, brutal. After the ten minutes, your body acclimates and everything seem to be fine but I can see my skin exposed turning a red that you only see if you dunk it into an ice bath. My question is, how come after about an hour of being in the cold, even though you’re still sweating and pushing, my body starts to get cold again. I feel fine and then I can tell that my core is starting to cool down. It starts in my back and spreads from there. The things you have to learn when you try to ride in colder weather. I understand now how training in different climates is important. I don’t think I can get myself to intentionally ride in rain yet though. That just seems like an accident waiting to happen. It’s fun trying though. Sometimes you wonder if when you pick something up, if it’s just a fad or a stage. Biking though, I wish I could ride everywhere. It becomes a way of life. I always think, “Can I ride today?” That’s a good thing.

Great Expectations

The power of positive thinking. It’s pretty powerful. Now just because you block out any pessimistic thoughts but everything that you think about only builds up momentum. I appreciate the friends that I’ve been able to build stronger relationships and also new ones at that. They have helped me get through some tough times and great opportunities when I didn’t see any. I’m hoping that I can push that momentum into this year and continue to pursue making the projects I want to happen…happen. My 08 Mavic Aksium wheels came (Merry Christmas to me!) and I’m pretty excited to test them out soon.

Yay!

The feeling of them just feel stiffer and have the stability that I think will push easier in gaining speed. Now that I’m talking about them without them on my bike, they’ll beat the POS wheels that I got on the bike initially.  It’ll make that big of a difference.  They are pretty to look at.I realized that you DO have to put air in your road tires before every ride. That’s what was causing my flats. The dreadful pinch flat. Now my problem is trying to find out why the heck my cadence isn’t reading on my computer now. If it’s not one thing, it’s another. I went to the bike shop today and it was funny hearing one of the guys that worked there say to a customer asking how much he’s looking to spend if he gets into biking. He says, “You will always find something else to buy. When you think you’re done buying stuff, you’ll find something else to get for your bike.”So true. It’s an addiction almost.Well here’s to 2010. It’s a “cool” year to live in. It sounds futuristic, monumental and end of a decade. Or the beginning of another rather? One thing is for sure, I think this is the coldest it’s been in Houston in a long time. Waiting for that arctic front to come through.
