Fall

So it seems that the summer season is slowly starting.  It’s not the insane temperatures are we were having in July and August anymore.  That means more people will be out on their bikes.  When the weather cooperates, it gives everyone an excuse to get out of their house and do something.  Not to mention that it seems like the training rides for the BPMS150 start back up.  It’s funny how sometimes you think a hobby is just a fad that you go through until you make yourself involved with the bike community.  You look at every bike you pass, you try and find every bike shop in every town you go through and you always think about going for a ride on the ol’ pedals around town or your neighborhood.

It is really cool to see friends get into biking.  It’s funny because a lot of people remember a childhood memory related to it.  Why is it at some point that we stopped riding our bikes?  Probably cuz we outgrew out little kid bikes and never upgraded them?  I know for some, they trained and grew up around the sport but for a lot of kids that used it to ride around the streets, it’s not until later with all the organized road bike rides and mobile social rides that you find an alternative social scene to the usual bars and always riding in cars to get around.

Maybe it’s because there is a big movement to be “green.”

Anyway, there’s a lot of scenarios to consider but when the nice weather comes around, it just becomes more apparent and exciting to see.  Hope Houston embraces the new trails around the city, especially around the Allen Parkway area.  They’ve done a lot of upgrades around the Memorial Heights area.  The more we use what they put out there, the more commutable the city feels and will become.
